Client

Northern Gas Networks

Location

Newcastle

Sector

Utilities - Mains Connection Works

Project Date

June 2025

Description

After a gas escape on a 30” main (750 mm ) was found, Cummins was called in to carry out an excavation 3.5 meters deep to enable repairs. The excavation included a bank of 6 high voltage cables and a cluster of internet cable ducts, as well as a 12” gas main, inside the excavation.

The excavation required the breakthrough of concrete that was 2.5 meters deep, surrounding the gas main and cables, which was particularly challenging.
